I have been involved in community development for more than 30 years: as neighbourhood worker, lecturer, writer, trainer, manager, director, policy advisor and researcher.
My experience and expertise
I have worked at local, regional and national levels, with community, voluntary and public sector organisations. My particular specialisms are networking and equalities practice.
My expertise draws on solid experience of working with communities and practice research providing me with a thorough and up-to-date knowledge of the relevant evidence base and current policy context.
Community development values are fundamental to how I work with clients and communities, namely:
Diversity Equality Transparency Partnership working Particiption Empowerment
Learning through experience and reflection
In accordance with these values, I make regular donations to two charities who work closely with communities in developing countries. These are currently Womankind Worldwide and Practical Action.
